Entry Level Surf

If you haven’t surfed for a while, are just getting into stand up paddle boarding and mainly want a board to surf around Perth (with perhaps the odd trip to places like Lancelin or Mandurah), there’s a great range of options. And some of them turn surprising well on small waves – making even mushy waves great fun. Good boards here include the Fanatic Diamond (for women), Starboard Whopper (Perth's most popular SUP board), Sunova Surf, Starboard Avanti (basically a Whopper for people who weigh over 100kg), SMIK E-Sea Rider/Leilani and Deep Six.

These boards are also great for people who short board surf, but just want a SUP board for fun on small waves.

Intermediate Surf

Intermediate surf SUP boards suit people who already have some stand up paddle board experience, may have been a good surfer in the past, and like surfing good waves (like Margs or Rotto). Good options Starboard Hypernut, Starboard Pocket Rocket, Fanatic All Wave, Sunova Speed or Sunova Skate.

These boards are a great transition from the family board without sacrificing stability. They still provide enough variety to cruise around, but also catch more critical waves. They'll allow you to progress your skills towards the high end performane surf SUP boards.

Advanced Surf

The top surf SUP boards hold lines in barrelling waves, get vertical, carve well and even pop airs if you're good enough. To ride them, you need to already be proficient in the waves on a SUP board.

What's great is that these boards have siginfiicant R&D in Australia by some of the world's leading SUP surfers. Guys like Scott McKercher, Justin Holland, Kai Bates, Rick Jakovich and Jake Jakovich all help to design boards that we sell.

Classic Longboard Surf Style

Fanatic have recently introduced the Stylemaster. This is a perfect board for those who love the classic longboard style of SUP surfing. It's fun to use, has high-end performance features, but anyone with some longboard surf experience will love it.

The Sunova Style range is a good looking longboard style board with a raw timber finish.

Or just come in to the shop and have a coffe and a chat. All our sales staff are highly experienced in all types of waves, ranging from Cottesloe, Lancelin, Rotto and Gnaraloo.

We also have over 30 different Stand Up Paddle boards that you can demo, including a great range of demo SUP boards for surf. You just need to come in, grab the board and give it a go in the waves you want to surf when it suits you. If it's not quite right, demo a few until you find the perfect one. Each board works differently for different people, different surfing styles and in different waves, so we reckon this is the best way to make sure you get the board that is absolutely right for you.

Surf Coaching

Our SUP instructors, Geoff Bryant and Nicki Jones, also provide one-on-one SUP surf coaching. This can be for all levels, including high performance coaching with video analysis.
