One of our most popular seller and one of store owner’s (Mike Galvin) personal favourites. And that’s because of the versatility.
At 34″ wide and with a wide nose, it’s nice and stable for beginners. Anyone in the family can have a go and it’s perfect to handle a dog or kid (or two!) on the front!
It’s also great fun in small waves. We find the Whopper is ideal for someone who has been out of the surf for a few years. And once you mastered the art of walking on the board, you’ll find it’s got great manoeuvrability.
This board can genuinely suit a wide range of riders. It’s a stable shape for heavier, progressive wave riders, whilst lighter riders can learn on this board.
It has a mono to double concave through the mid section for good rail to rail turning. And some V in the tail for tighter carves.
This board also comes with a full EVA deck grip.
The Starlite construction features scratch proof rails and an Australian Pine deck for impact resistance. Weight is saved by introducing a new technology of infusing the paint within the resin. And it’s this feature that gives the scratch proof rails – paint chips don’t happen because the paint is in the resin.
The Lite Tech construction is the value construction method offered by Starboard. On popular models only, Starboard have set up a lean production method. They use sustainably sourced Australian Pine for impact resistance on the deck. Then reinforce the EPS core with fibreglass.
And of course there’s the Carbon variation for the ultimate in light weight performance.
The rails are a parabolic carbon innegra construction. This makes them scratch and ding resistant, as well as giving the board extra structural strength.
